AUSTRALIA’S highest paid career, nurse, is expected to earn $1.3 million this year.
That’s about one-third more than the highest paid job in the US, the pharmacist.
The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Australia (NMCA) estimates nurses earn about $1 million a year more than average in the UK.
The NMCA also estimates the median salary for a nurse is $110,000, while the average salary for an associate is $81,000.
The top paid nurse in Australia is the nurse who runs the nursing home where she is based, who makes about $5 million a season.
Nurses working in the nursing homes are paid about $400,000 a year, which is about $300,000 more than nurses in the private sector.
Australian nurses have been awarded the highest number of contracts in the health service in the world, according to a 2016 report by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME).
“This means nurses are well paid in Australia,” NMCE chief executive Fiona Richardson said.
“Nurses are also highly motivated to deliver on their professional commitments.
This has contributed to the high number of contract awards, including the most for any profession in the last 10 years.
It’s the reason nurses have the highest rates of hospitalisation and death and are also the highest at the front line of care.”
A new study by the NMCP found that nurses were more likely to be in their late 40s or early 50s than any other profession.
And those aged between 25 and 34 had the highest risk of having a serious cardiac event in their lifetime.
“We know that older nurses are more likely than younger nurses to have a heart attack, which means older nurses have a higher risk of death from heart disease and stroke,” Richardson said.””
A recent study showed that nurses over the age of 60 were three times more likely as those aged under 25 to die from heart attacks and strokes in the five years before they started working in hospitals.
“She said the number of nurse deaths in Australia had risen by over 300 per cent in the past 10 years and she expected the numbers to rise further.”
Nursing is a good profession for many reasons,” Richardson told AAP.
She described nurses as “the bridge between the community and the health sector”.”
Nurse training has been one of the most valuable assets nurses have to offer.
“The NHCI also estimates that nursing is the most trusted profession in Australia, with more than two-thirds of all Australians having a positive impression of it.
A key element of that trust is the NHC IHME Survey, which was conducted by the National Nursing and Health Care Quality Review Commission in November 2016.
In the survey, 74 per cent of respondents had a positive view of nursing, while only 10 per cent had an unfavorable opinion.
For the first time, the survey also found a strong correlation between nursing graduates and a positive job-market outlook.
About 50 per cent said they expected to get a job in a nursing home within five years.
About one-fifth of those surveyed said they had been offered a job that was not a nursing job.”
Our survey shows that nursing graduates are a positive influence on the workforce and in particular, on job-seeking,” Richardson noted.
We know there is a strong link between the nurse and the community, so we think that nursing can have a positive impact on the community.
However, she added there was a need for more training for nurses to become well-rounded workers and for employers to make sure nurses have skills that could be used to help them achieve their goals.”
The NSCI also found that, across all professions, there are significant gaps in training for nursing graduates, particularly in nursing.””
Numerous studies have found that in many sectors, nursing is under-served and under-appreciated.
“In the UK, nurses earn an average of $3.6 million a day in the NHS, according the Nursing and Allied Health Professionals Association (NAHPA).
But that doesn’t include the more than $1 billion that nurses in Britain make.
But in Australia they earn only $1,955 per week, or about half of that of their UK counterparts.
Nurses in the United States earn an annual salary of $71,000 or $100,000 less than their counterparts in the country, according research by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW).
In Australia, the average earnings are less than half of those in the U.S. According to AIHW, the median income of nurses is $92,000 and that of associates is $85,000 while associate salaries are about $80,000 higher in Australia.”
